Characteristics:
The steep slope, facing south to south-west, made of barren Devonian slate soil with hard brown to blue slate plates with a slope of up to 60%. Here there are still old, real-root Riesling vines, some of which were planted over 100 years ago.
The old vines only bring low yields - a maximum of 5,000 to 6,000 liters per hectare - but typical Ruwer Rieslings with elegance and finesse, with aroma and minerality, paired with fine fruit acid and imaginative length.
We cultivate 2.5 hectares within the Kaseler Nies’chen. Here, the three parcels “In the rock garden”, “On the walls” and “In the Taubenberg” deserve special attention.
